Overcomplete image coding using iterative projection-based noise shaping

چکیده
Overcomplete transforms, like the Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform, offer more flexible signal representations than criticallysampled transforms. Large numbers of transform coefficients can be discarded without much reconstruction quality loss by forcing compensatory changes in the remaining coefficients. We develop and demonstrate a new and unique system for achieving these transform coding aims of coefficient elimination and compensation. The system is based on iterative projection of signals between the image domain and transform domain.

متن کاملA model based, anatomy dependent method for ultra-fast creation of primary SPECT projections
Introduction: Monte Carlo (MC) is the most common method for simulating virtual SPECT projections. It is useful for optimizing procedures, evaluating correction algorithms and more recently image reconstruction as a forward projector in iterative algorithms; however, the main drawback of MC is its long run time. We introduced a model based method considering the eff...
متن کاملVideo Coding Without Motion Compensation Using a 3-D Dual-Tree Wavelet Transform
This paper explores the use of a recently introduced 3-D dual-tree discrete wavelet transform (DDWT) for video coding. The 3-D DDWT is an attractive video representation because it isolates motion along different directions in separate subbands. However, it is an overcomplete transform with 8:1 or 4:1 redundancy. Based on the effectiveness of the iterative projectionbased noise shaping scheme p...
متن کاملFast System Matrix Calculation in CT Iterative Reconstruction
Introduction: Iterative reconstruction techniques provide better image quality and have the potential for reconstructions with lower imaging dose than classical methods in computed tomography (CT). However, the computational speed is major concern for these iterative techniques. The system matrix calculation during the forward- and back projection is one of the most time- cons...
